New blogs!

I'd like to introduce to you two wonderful friends of mine who have just entered the blogging world for the very first time. Trot on over to Kelly and Luke's blogs, and give them a comment or two, will ya?

My true self

I realised the other day that I don't blog quite as openly as many people do. Hit 'next blog' to read random blogs, and you get all sorts: usually either politically motivated blogs, blogs about a newborn child, blogs about a holiday someone is taking, annoying fake blogs by casino companies, and soppy love blogs. I'm referring to the latter mainly... These sorts of blogs reveal all sorts of things about the author, from their latest crush to their relationship struggles, difficulties in self-acceptance, frustrations, and failures. Yet I reveal none of these sorts of things! Maybe I want my blog to be all happy and nice... or maybe I'm insecure about revealing too much of myself to people I don't know. Maybe I bottle things up inside. Or maybe I'm just smart and only reveal things to people who I know won't tell a soul. Maybe I am having WAY too much introspection right now (or maybe I just got home from work and needed to rant).

What do you think is appropriate to reveal about yourself in a blog?

I thought it was funny...

Your Famous Last Words Will Be:

"So, you're a cannibal."

Going digital

I'm thinking about buying a digital camera, but I'm not sure which one to get. I don't want to spend too much, but I do want a decent quality photo.

At the moment I'm leading towards a Sony Cybershot (toss-up between the 4 and the 6 megapixel)... only because my sister has one and it does a reasonable job.

Anyone got any ideas?

Arts students

Found a great joke on someone else's blog today:

The graduate with a science degree asks, "Why does it work?"
The graduate with an engineering degree asks, 'How does it work?"
The graduate with an accounting degree asks, "How much will it cost?"
The graduate with an arts degree asks, "Do you want fries with that?"

Wait a minute... I'm an arts student!

Something inside just now
Must get it out
Spew it across these pages
Release angst
The inner knot uncoils
But this spring will tighten again

Calm has been felt before
Must get it back
Recast the mind back to joy once felt
Your hand I find underneath
Peace returns
I press on

Green?

Your Blog Should Be Green

Your blog is smart and thoughtful - not a lot of fluff.
You enjoy a good discussion, especially if it involves picking apart ideas.
However, you tend to get easily annoyed by any thoughtless comments in your blog.
Well, there is a little fluff....
At least my sidebar is green, so well done quizmaker peoples. Spooky, huh! Yes...

"No, you wouldn't understand..."

... This is what an elderly person told me today. No, I guess I wouldn't. I don't know what it's like to be unable to look after myself, to totally depend on others for the simplest things in life; a clean body, a cup of tea, a warm meal.

Every time I dress myself now I remember and am thankful. My healthy body and mind are blessings I too often take for granted. My freedom to wander wherever I want is something not everyone enjoys. To have my family around me to spend Easter with is what some people can only long for.

At least there's one thing I can do: make life a little bit better for those who are weak and those who suffer.

"...And the King shall answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brothers, you have done it to Me." Matt. 25:40

It's just a small effort for us to give a smile, a drink or a hug to someone in need, even if noone expects you to 'go the extra mile'. And they're all around you. What will you do to show the love of Christ today?

Word Limits

I'm ravenously carving words out of my assignment at the moment. It's already 10% over 1000 words, so I've got 46 remaining words to chop out (I've already got rid of 450 mind you).

Oh the agony....

Clothespeg Noseyanker

Lately I've been listening to the greatest band ever, ClothesPeg NoseYanker. They are so funky - and I totally agree with their philosophy of life.

Their latest song 'I Just Ran Over My Neighbour's Dog... Oops' will never be a number one hit, but I totally identify with the anger they express in the song.

So now do you think I'm cool and edgy and grungy and stuff?

See Trav's post for more details.

Know what I've discovered?

... I'm becoming a lot more random in my old age.

Diary of a sleep-deprived nurse

Sorry I haven't blogged for ages...

I've realised one thing nursing has done for me: I'm now more addicted to caffeine than ever before. The last time I remember being really addicted was in year 12, when I couldn't think all day if I hadn't had my morning cup...

Now I drink about 8 cups a day. But what else can you do when you've got to work on 6 hours sleep? And then come home and study for the rest of the day?

And how do I like mine? Tea - white, no sugar. Coffee - white, NO sugar. Nescafe, please, or Riva Gold (Yes, please!). Cafe Latte is very nice thank you very much also.

Today I'm extra tired. But excited, because I'm going out to speak at a primary school in the sticks soon.

But in the meantime... pass me another cup, will you?
