Happy New Year
The fireworks in Sydney were pretty good this year - compared to other years I remember. Flashes of flame and colour burst from not only the Syndey Harbour bridge, but also from high-rise buildings. These were accompanied by glittering camera flashes coming from the crowd, which could be seen from the air. Ahhh... Maybe I'll have to actually go there one year.
What did you do for new year's eve? Do you do the same thing every year, or do you mix it up from year to year?
One thing a lot of us do is make new year's resolutions. This is mine: (it comes from a song by one of my favourite bands... DCTalk)
To see Him more clearly
To love Him more dearly
To follow Him more nearly...
Day by day.
And I do intend to keep this one. I'm thankful for the year that was past - I thank God it was a victorious one in many ways, a year of breaking through, a year of taking new ground. But this is a new year: The past is past - both good parts and bad parts are all in the past. This is a fresh start - a new chance to make a difference. What are you going to do this year, to change the world?

I was at Confest (up near Deniliquin and Swan Hill) for New Years Eve, and at midnight I was watching people do fire-twirling.
'Day by Day' is originally from Gospell, which is a musical about Jesus.
Oh yeah, I don't really make New Years resolutions, but one thing I want to do this year is grow more vegetables.
Upon reading the book of jonah i decided what i want in 2007. In chapter 3:3 it says that Jonah obeyed everything God had said...yet Jonah still cracked it at God when God was merciful. So he obeyed God (he was good on the outside) but his inside was far from right. Hillsong wrote a cool song called inside out.
I want to stop worrying about whether i'm successful outwardly and worry about whether i'm pleasing God everyday. I want to have my insides right and let the outside follow.
I'm very excited about 07!
My New Year is usually different each year.
Often it was spent walking the streets of Pinnaroo, looking for someone to talk to. There was always a lot of under-age drinking, and I remember one New Years Eve 'making a stand for God'.
When I was smaller my mum and dad would take me to Adelaide to see the fireworks. Sometimes I spent it with my dad in Adelaide when they divorced and we watched the fireworks on a hill.
In 2004/5 I spent it with Hamish in Benalla. We were so busy talking we didn't see it go into the new year!
Then in 2005/6 Hamish and I went to Adelaide and watched the fireworks on Glenelg beach. On the way home, however, we were almost killed on a bus coming back into the city. Long story. We ended up being stranded in this random suburb and getting a taxi (useless fact: did you know taxis are white in SA??) the rest of the way, which cost over $20. Busses were free in Adelaide after 12 so we werent impressed at all.
Then this year I spent new year in Benalla again with Hamish, and at about 11 he fell asleep!!! And yes, they were lovely fireworks in Sydney I must say.
Resolutions?
% Get a job that meets the needs of uni and church
% Loose weight - Yeah, so cliche, but I know I really need to look after the 'temple of the holy spirit' better
% Deepen my r/ship with God and make my relationships with other people more pleasing in God's eyes
bless ya rach, see you tomorrow
(gosh what an essay!)
