Aren't they cute? And I can hardly believe Sesame Street is 36 years old! In fact, according to Wikipedia, Sesame Street premiered on November 10, 1969, and it's one of the longest-running shows in television history!

Stores have been selling these little Sesame Street soft toys for a while, but this week they're chucking them out for 15-25% off so I grabbed a couple to add to the collection in my car. Bert, Ernie and Telly bring back so many memories - I remember watching Sesame Street for years as a child. I loved Bert and Ernie the most - especially the "dance myself to sleep" song, which Ernie sings as the sheep he was counting escort Bert outside the apartment so Ernie can get some sleep. I also loved Grover - especially the segments where this blue guy would go to a restaurant and Grover would be the waiter, inevitably messing the guy around until he was tearing his hair out just trying to get the food he wanted.

The show has certainly changed since then - the old fashioned cartoons have been replaced by computer animation, and other shows have emerged like "Elmo's World". But as for me, I'll always remember the adventures of Maria and Luis, Mr. Hooper, Big Bird and Snuffy, Super-Grover and of course, Elmo.
