20 weeks to go!

It's 20 weeks to go until I choof off to one of my favourite places in the universe... the Philippines. I'm going for about three weeks, flying Philippine Air Lines, travelling with my uncle, aunty and cousins.

Each week I'll post a photo of various places and people in the Phils, and use it to tell you a little bit about this wonderful place and why I love it so much.

So: the first photo...


Tamborine dancers (at night) in a meeting we had in an outdoor basketball court.

These girls do such a great job - they spend hours preparing for these performances, not to mention ages doing hair and makeup beforehand. Some are as young as 6 or 7, others in their early twenties. They are just beautiful! Their dancing is also beautiful and coordinated wonderfully incorporating tamborines and flags.

When you have outdoor meetings like this one, people hear the sound of the music and the speakers, and will come from all over the village to hear what's going on. When you're talking to a crowd, you really don't know how many people you are speaking to because you can't see most of them!
